Dustin Pittsley has gained a buzz in music conversations around Oklahoma for years now, but after several of the region’s best and respected players helped form his newest group, The Dustin Pittsley Band, the artists have created much more than a buzz. Only a few months after forming, the DPB grabbed Urban Tulsa’s Best New Band 2004, a Tulsa World Spotnik nomination for Best Blues Player (Dustin Pittsley’s 5th nomination), Tulsa Blues Society’s Best Lead Guitarist 2005, Payne County Line’s Best New Band and the Tulsa World's 2007 Spotnik Award for Best Blues Band. This group also won the Blues Society of Tulsa's 2005 Blues Challenge and represented them at the International Blues Competition in 2006. In Nov. 2008 the band received the Best Self-Produced Cd Award from the Blues Society of Tulsa and will represent Tulsa in the Blues Foundation contest in Memphis, TN. The group also won "Best Band" and "Best Lead" (Dustin Pittsley) in the BST's Annual Blues Choice Awards in December 2008. Making up this dynamic group is Dustin Pittsley (lead guitar and vocals), Donnie Wood (bass and vocals), Doug Wehmeyer (drums).
